Why would you pay for this when ROMS and emulators are free?

i know.. but i cant play without a classic controller.. that said, i dug up my old nes i gave to my nephew, works fine, even after all these years :lawl:

it takes about 5-10min of fiddling with the games to get them to work, but it is still that nostalgic bizness <3

Yup, then I thought I was top dog when I got a floppy drive, then I upgraded to a 128 and got a 3.5 floppy drive... I used that right up through to about 1985 when I finally got my first IBM PC. /bigsmile

I feel the 60$ is worth reliving the favorite parts of my childhood. Plus its nice to have a console with games to play casually with company, passing the controller on each death. it works well with NES and Sega games, and classic controllers are just the cherry on top.

I do use emulators, and they're crazy fun, but to have this in my living room as opposed to my desktop, and ill prob be splitting the cost w my roommates.

OMG THIS THREAD!!!!! how did i miss this? well, actually probably because i don't game much EXCEPT for a chance to play the ones i grew up on.

pretty much the same background as Feyd...seeing and playing the progression of video games from pong and the arcades, to Atari, Coleco-Vision, Commodore...through the original NES & Sega Genesis...on to IBM/PC until around 2005 when i realized how much i miss actual controllers and the 3D camera motion of many current games gives me a headache. //oldkoot

i would LOVE to get one of those mini pre-loaded NES / Genesis deals! eventually perhaps. emulators are fine for cravings but again, hate using a keyboard. yeah i know about USB controls too, but meh i'd still rather play on my big TV. about 8 years ago i did buy one of these little pre-loaded joysticks for about $10...came with like 10 old arcade games and is fun for the price.

my faves growing up:
Galaga
Ms PacMan
Centipede
Dig Dug
Joust
Q-Bert
DuckTales (on NES!!!)
Metroid (changed my world as a young lady when i got to the end!!)
Super Mario Bros.
Sonic the Hedgehog (i can still rock this one...muscle memory i guess lol)
Legend of Zelda
Pitfall
Altered Beast (my friend and i beat this in the arcade!)

if you want to laugh about how bad some of the games we had were and reminisce about stuff you likely forgot about, the Angry Video Game Nerd is one of the few shows on YouTube i can watch repeatedly and always enjoy - after skipping the awful intro... :giggle: - here are a few of my favorite eps:

also look out for one on Bible games and adult games...omg /rotfl

his collection of games and consoles is also one of the most incredible things to behold...often a bit of a history lesson as well in some shows! /smart
