ummm how I'm I just now getting in here? Ink, you know I have nothing but love for you and your art. I had no problem at all waiting as long as I did for the family self-portrait. It's not ready until it is ready and while sometimes a deadline can be motivational, they can be detrimental as well.

It was so worth the wait. I'll take a pic of it and post in here. It is the only decoration in my living room lol. I'm not big on decor that's a whole other thread though.

I'm loving your landscapes. I don't know if you are inspired to do nightscapes but I'd love to see what you'd come up with. I've been watching tons of Bob Ross! I'm slowly collecting supplies to try and paint like him. I have aphantasia and no minds eye of my own but I've always been pretty good at doing things once I'm taught.

I'm so happy to see you posting things!! More more please. <3

Yes Candee, doo it...Bob Ross is the master of wet on wet painting. alla prima i think, but just follow the order which he lays down paint. try not to approach it from necessarily painting whats in your mind, so much as just following along, the order... like, "oh you mean if i lay that color onto this color, like this... oh snap! Mountains! Clouds! O_o " its fun, but he's fast so, yea pause and rewind all day.

Love the night landscapes btw... i will snap a few pics

i kind of get on these kicks were i will focus my attention on a particular subject, just to boost how i learn. most of these, are practice in drawing out lighter waves from a dark, rich background and the same technique for the clouds. think of it as, an exercise in creating light. its funny, my professors were so against painting like Bob Ross, and i get it. they wanted the painters to be well rounded, but it wasnt until after i started playing around with his alla prima technique, i felt more ecomplete. i think the man was genius, in my eyes. he makes it so everyone can paint, regardless of natural talent, by just following a simple order in application and the way you use a brush... never understood why some feel there is only one way to use a brush. :/

this is my first real successful transition from a digital medium to a print on canvas. i think it turned out pretty cool. all done in sketchbook pro using one size paintbrush... :D idk, i was just on fire that day lol. but since there was a small demand for marilyn, i supplemented this one as a quick replacement. success! ill dig up the happy customer pics and post them when im not so tired.

Phara nailed it on Marylinn. so human, the starlet in her own light, out of the spotlight... it really resonates with me.
i always liked that she was considered a pin-up because she wasn't a stick-figure. she was a curvy woman, and today would likely be considered "plus-size because she wasn't near-transparent like current beauty icons.

and Erykah!!!! <3 love that woman...again, perfectly captured in the sensuous, feminine power of her art...

Truthfully, i dont really like her anymore...
A few yrs ago, i was trying up my game with the feminine features, so i studied her and painted her (in airbrush mostly).. and i kind of got sick of her.
Much love tho, i know she is at the pinnacle of american sex symbolism, and her legacy demands that awe, but im starting find the beauty in the less obvious places now.. so merely a step in the well of a long staircase. :/

completely get that. consider her a study, yes. a "classic" sex-symbol of what we understand as a very, very narrow standard of beauty. but then, that standard has also changed over the centuries and will continue to do so. think of the master paintings...the term 'Reubenesque'...and how being overweight was once considered gorgeous, as it was also a symbol of wealth. society teaches us it's standards early-on and then we as individuals either break through that and learn how to truly See, or we allow ourselves to be spoon-fed what should appeal to us and continue to live with blinders on. ;)

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Yes I would just exactly follow Ross's directions since I have no "mind's eye". I think I'd struggle with traditional art school teachings but his I think I could do.
